Custom PEEK machined parts made from approved drawings and CAD files. Submit the exact PEEK grade, quantity, critical dimensions and inspection requirements for RFQ review.
YSBK machines custom PEEK parts from customer-approved drawings and CAD files for prototypes, replacement components and low-volume requirements. Each RFQ is reviewed against the specified PEEK grade, geometry, quantity, critical dimensions and inspection scope.
PEEK parts can behave differently from metal parts during machining, particularly when a design combines thin walls, heavy material removal, precision bores or tight flatness requirements. For that reason, quotation should begin with the actual drawing and model rather than a general tolerance request.
Drawing and CAD Requirements Before Quotation
Send the approved STEP or other usable 3D CAD file as the geometry source. Include a dimensioned 2D drawing when the part has critical tolerances, datums, fits, threads, surface requirements or inspection notes.
The RFQ should identify:
- the exact PEEK grade or compound;
- drawing and CAD revision;
- required quantity;
- critical dimensions, fits and geometric controls;
- operating conditions that affect acceptance;
- annealing or stress-relief requirements, when specified;
- material certificate or traceability requirements;
- first-part photographs or dimension records, when required.
A 3D model communicates nominal geometry, but it does not replace drawing notes that control manufacturing and inspection. See our guide to 2D drawings and 3D CAD files for CNC quotation.
YSBK reviews the drawing-defined component for manufacturability and quotation. Material selection, design approval and suitability for the complete assembly remain with the customer.
PEEK Grades Reviewed Per Order
YSBK machines unfilled or virgin PEEK, glass-filled PEEK and carbon-filled PEEK to customer drawings. Raw-material stock and supply feasibility must be confirmed for every order during the RFQ stage.
These materials should not be treated as interchangeable. If the drawing requires a specific grade, reinforcement, manufacturer or trade designation, state it clearly. YSBK will not substitute one PEEK grade for another without customer approval.
Geometry and Tolerance Review
There is no single machining tolerance that applies to every PEEK part. Feasibility depends on the material grade, stock condition, wall thickness, feature geometry, amount of material removed, workholding and inspection condition.
Mark the dimensions that control fit, alignment or function instead of assigning unnecessarily tight tolerances to every feature. Thin rings, pocketed housings, broad plates and bores surrounded by thin material may require additional review because the part can move after unclamping or temperature stabilization.

Annealing and Stress Relief
Stress-relief annealing is not required for every PEEK component and is not included by default. YSBK does not perform controlled PEEK stress-relief annealing in-house.
When the drawing, geometry or dimensional requirements justify it, annealing can be coordinated through an external subcontractor. Feasibility, cost and lead time must be evaluated per order against the PEEK grade, wall thickness and required tolerances.
Inspection and Documentation Scope
Basic dimensional verification uses calipers, micrometers, depth gauges and height gauges. Inspection records cover only the critical dimensions agreed from the drawing.
First-part photographs and key-dimension records must be requested and agreed during the RFQ stage. They are not included automatically. YSBK does not have in-house CMM or optical measuring equipment, and full-dimensional or CMM reports are not provided by default.
If a feature requires a different inspection method, a stabilization period or a defined free-state, restrained or assembled condition, include that requirement in the RFQ for review.
Typical Drawing-Defined PEEK Components
Projects may include bushings, sleeves, spacers, insulating components, housings, brackets, threaded components and other milled or turned parts. The part name alone does not determine feasibility. The approved geometry, PEEK grade and acceptance requirements control the review.
What to Send for a PEEK Machining Review
For a project-specific quotation, submit:
- the approved dimensioned drawing;
- the matching STEP or other usable 3D CAD file;
- exact PEEK grade;
- quantity and revision;
- critical dimensions and fits;
- annealing requirement, when applicable;
- inspection and documentation requirements;
- target delivery date.
If the drawing and CAD file do not match, identify the controlling revision before quotation. Production should be based on the customer-approved file set rather than an undocumented sample change.
