When a Machine Part Is No Longer Available
A machine may remain productive long after an individual component becomes difficult to source.
Custom manufacturing is often considered when:
- the OEM has discontinued the original part;
- an existing component is worn or damaged;
- OEM lead time does not fit the repair schedule;
- an older or custom machine uses a non-standard component;
- only one or a small number of replacement parts are required.
For these projects, the replacement must work with the existing assembly.
Dimensions controlling fit, alignment, mounting and mating features should therefore be clearly identified on the drawing or engineering documentation.

Replacement Parts from Drawings and CAD Files
The most suitable projects for YSBK are those where manufacturing requirements can be clearly defined.
For quotation, send available engineering information such as:
- 2D engineering drawing;
- 3D CAD or STEP file;
- existing or legacy machine drawing;
- required quantity;
- material specification;
- critical dimensions and tolerances;
- heat treatment or hardness requirements;
- surface finish or coating requirements.
When both a 3D model and 2D drawing are available, the drawing should identify dimensions and specifications that are critical to the part's function.
If the original documentation is incomplete
Older equipment does not always have a complete digital drawing package.
Send the information currently available. We can review whether it provides a sufficient manufacturing basis and identify items that need clarification before quotation.
For replacement components, particular attention should be given to features affecting bearing fits, shaft interfaces, locating positions, mounting patterns and alignment with existing assemblies.
One-Off and Low-Volume Replacement Parts
Replacement projects rarely require production quantities.
A maintenance team may need one part to return a machine to service, several pieces for multiple machines, or a small quantity to keep as maintenance spares.

What Matters on a Replacement Part Drawing
Not every dimension on a replacement component needs the same level of control.
For an existing machine, the most important requirements are usually the features that determine whether the new part will fit and function correctly.
Depending on the component, these may include:
- bearing or bushing fits;
- shaft and bore interfaces;
- locating diameters;
- mounting-hole positions;
- mating surfaces;
- alignment features;
- threads and fastening interfaces;
- critical overall dimensions.
If hardness, heat treatment, coating or surface finish affects service performance, these requirements should also be defined on the drawing.
This allows manufacturing and inspection to focus on the characteristics that matter to the existing assembly.

Can you manufacture replacement parts for obsolete equipment?
Yes. We manufacture one-off and low-volume mechanical replacement components for older industrial equipment and custom machinery when sufficient engineering information is available.

Can you manufacture a replacement machine part from an existing drawing?
Yes. A drawing-based replacement project is a good fit when the geometry, material, tolerances and functional requirements are defined.
If both a 2D drawing and 3D CAD model are available, send both for review.
Do you accept one-off replacement parts?
Yes. Many equipment repair and maintenance projects require only one component or a small batch.
