Second-Source CNC Machining: What to Confirm Before Ordering
Adding a CNC machining supplier for existing parts? Confirm BOM scope, quotation conditions, delivery and inspection before placing your first order.

To add a second CNC machining supplier, start with a defined quotation for the existing parts you need: the part numbers, quantities, finished condition and required timing. Resolve exclusions or proposed changes before treating that quotation as comparable with your current supply.
For equipment builders and engineering teams with approved drawings, this means reviewing a new manufacturing source for an established design. You can begin with the parts needed for your next order without transferring the whole project at once.
Define the Parts You Want Quoted
Send the relevant BOM entries with the material, quantity and surface finish for each part number, together with the corresponding 2D drawings and available CAD or STEP files. For a single part, include those details in the enquiry. YSBK uses this information to review the manufacturing requirements and prepare a quotation.
Separate the quantity you intend to order now from any expected repeat demand. A forecast helps explain the project, but it should not be confused with the quantity being quoted for the first order.

Check the Quotation Against Your Current Requirements
A total price is not enough to compare two sources. Check whether each quotation covers the same parts and delivery condition.

For close fits and mating features, make clear which dimensions must be met after the specified finishing processes. The condition before coating or treatment may not be the condition in which the part will be accepted.
If an approved change affects the parts you currently buy, include that requirement in the information sent to the new supplier. Resolve any proposed change with your engineering team before ordering; a quotation should not silently become permission to alter the drawing.
Agree a Delivery Date That Fits Your Build
YSBK communicates the lead time for the order. Tell us when the parts are needed at your facility, and clarify whether the date in the quotation refers to dispatch or arrival. These are different milestones.
If a technical question remains open, ask whether it affects the quoted schedule. An unresolved manufacturing requirement should be visible before you plan assembly around the delivery date.
During the first order, clear communication means knowing which part is being discussed, what needs a decision and what timing has been agreed. It gives your engineering and purchasing teams something concrete to act on.
Confirm Inspection and Pre-Shipment Review
Before shipment, YSBK performs dimensional inspection against the agreed drawing requirements. We also share photographs for customer confirmation and provide videos for complex parts.
The photographs and videos support review of visible features and the condition of the parts before dispatch. They supplement dimensional inspection; they do not replace measurement records.
If you need a dimensional report, identify the required features, inspection scope and documentation during quotation. The report scope and associated cost can then be agreed before the order starts. A requirement for dimensional inspection is not the same as a request for a report covering every dimension on every part.
Use the First Delivery to Decide What Comes Next
After receipt, assess the parts against the agreed requirements and your applicable receiving or assembly checks. Review whether the agreed timing was met, the price matched the supplied scope, and questions received useful answers.
Continue with accepted parts, resolve any specific issue before reordering, or submit additional parts for review. New part numbers or changes in material, quantity and finish still need confirmation of price, lead time and inspection requirements; they are not automatically covered by the previous quotation.
