Prototype Parts From Your Drawings
Prototype CNC machining is suitable when a design has progressed to the point where physical parts are needed for engineering evaluation.
We manufacture from customer-supplied 2D drawings and 3D CAD files. Projects may include a single component, a small batch or several different part numbers within the same engineering project.
The customer engineering team retains control of the design. We review the manufacturing requirements and produce the parts according to the supplied documentation.

Prototype projects may include:
- Brackets and structural components
- Shafts, pins, spacers and sleeves
- Custom mechanical components
Several drawing numbers can also be reviewed together when the parts belong to the same assembly or engineering project.
One-Off and Low-Volume Prototype Machining
Engineering projects do not always require production quantities.
YSBK supports one-off parts, small prototype batches and multi-part projects. Revised components can also be manufactured when the engineering team releases an updated drawing or CAD revision.
Quotations are reviewed according to the drawing, material, quantity and manufacturing requirements rather than a fixed minimum production volume.
From Prototype to Revised and Repeat Parts
Prototype machining may be one stage of a longer engineering project.
After initial parts are assembled or evaluated, the engineering team may release an updated drawing or CAD model. The revised component can then be reviewed for another manufacturing run.
Initial Prototype → Engineering Evaluation → Drawing Revision → Revised Parts → Low-Volume Repeat
Design changes and released revisions remain under the control of the customer’s engineering team.
Materials and Supporting Processes
Prototype components can be manufactured in:
- Aluminum
- Titanium
Where specified by the drawing, supporting processes such as grinding, EDM, heat treatment, surface finishing and dimensional inspection can be coordinated as part of the project.
What to Prepare for Manufacturing Review
For an initial review, prepare:
- 2D drawing
- 3D CAD / STEP file
- Quantity
- Material
- Critical dimensions and tolerances
- Heat treatment or hardness requirements, if applicable
- Surface finish or secondary-process requirements
- Target delivery
For multi-part projects, identify the quantity and current revision for each part number where possible.

What files should I prepare?
A 3D CAD file such as STEP/STP together with a 2D engineering drawing is preferred where available. The drawing should identify material, tolerances and other requirements that may not be fully defined by the 3D model.
